Medeama and Nations FC to clash in 2026 Champion of Champions

The TnA Stadium in Tarkwa will officially open the 2026/27 domestic football season when Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC host MTN FA Cup winners Nations FC in the 2026 Champion of Champions on Sunday, August 30.

The fixture will bring together the two reigning domestic champions, setting the stage for an early battle for silverware before the new league campaign gets underway.

Medeama, who were crowned Ghana Premier League champions last season, will be hoping to continue their winning momentum and add another trophy to their cabinet under head coach Ibrahim Tanko.

Nations FC, meanwhile, earned their place in the fixture after winning the MTN FA Cup and will travel to Tarkwa determined to prove themselves against the country’s top-flight champions.

Traditionally, the Champion of Champions pits the Ghana Premier League winners against the FA Cup holders and serves as the curtain-raiser for the new domestic season.

Beyond the trophy, the game will provide both teams with an important competitive test as they assess their squads, new signings and tactical preparations ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League is scheduled to begin from September 4–7, meaning both Medeama and Nations FC will have an opportunity to gain valuable momentum from the Champion of Champions clash before their respective league campaigns begin.
