Hearts of Oak Withdraw from 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament

Accra Hearts of Oak have officially withdrawn from the 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament, citing clashes between the competition’s scheduled dates and the club’s other pre-agreed programmes.

In a statement dated August 11, 2026, the Phobians informed their supporters, partners and the general public that the decision was taken after careful consideration of their existing commitments.

The club also expressed concerns about the tournament’s proximity to the start of the new Ghana Premier League season, noting that participation at this stage could affect their preparations and other commitments.

“The decision has been taken due to clashes between the scheduled dates of the tournament and other pre-agreed programs of the Club. Additionally, considering the tournament’s closeness to the commencement of the new league season, the Club believes that participating at this time would present challenges to its existing preparations and commitments.”

Hearts of Oak revealed that they had earlier engaged the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and requested a change in the tournament dates to enable them to participate. However, according to the club, those efforts did not result in a revised schedule.

“After careful consideration, the Club has therefore decided that withdrawing from the tournament is the most appropriate course of action at this time.”

The Phobians nevertheless thanked GHALCA for its efforts in organising the competition and wished the association and the remaining participating clubs a successful tournament.

The withdrawal means Hearts of Oak will now focus on their own preparations ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
