“The Indomitable Spirit of Ghanaians Will Always Rise” – Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku Backs Black Stars Ahead of World Cup

Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has expressed confidence that the appointment of Carlos Queiroz will revitalise the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking on the sidelines of the FIFA Congress in Vancouver, the Ghana Football Association president admitted concerns over injuries within the squad but remains optimistic about the team’s prospects.

“When I look at the list, it’s quite worrying, but I derive my positivity from the fact that there is something in the Ghanaian; the indomitable spirit of the Ghanaian will always come up when the chips are so low,” he said.

Okraku believes the arrival of Queiroz has already sparked renewed unity and belief within the team and among supporters.

“With the unity of purpose that has been demonstrated… it will arouse extra energy in the Ghanaian player, to the 12th man, and we will find the right level of energy to be competitive,” he added.

Ghana will be making their fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in a challenging group alongside Panama national football team, England national football team, and Croatia national football team.

The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

As part of preparations, Queiroz’s side will play international friendlies against Mexico national football team and Wales national football team, with the final squad for the tournament expected to be announced on June 1.
