The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended its heartfelt sympathies to victims of the devastating floods that have affected several parts of the country, pledging its support for families and communities impacted by the disaster.
In a statement issued by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the Association acknowledged the pain and hardship caused by the floods, noting that many Ghanaians are facing loss and displacement despite the excitement surrounding the Black Stars’ progress to the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The GFA stressed that the joy of Ghana’s success on the football pitch cannot overshadow the suffering of citizens affected by the tragedy.
“On behalf of the Ghana Football Association and the entire football fraternity, I wish to assure all those affected that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult period,” the statement said.
The Association also commended the government, emergency responders, volunteers and humanitarian organisations for their swift efforts in providing relief and support to affected communities.
Simeon-Okraku urged Ghanaians to continue showing compassion and solidarity, expressing hope that those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods will receive the assistance needed to rebuild their lives.
He concluded with a message of hope, encouraging the nation to remain united as recovery efforts continue.
“Together, we will overcome,” the GFA President stated.
The Association’s message adds to the growing support from across the country as Ghana rallies behind flood victims while continuing to back the Black Stars in their FIFA World Cup campaign.
