Black Stars winger Ernest Nuamah has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaians for standing by him throughout his lengthy recovery from a serious knee injury, describing the support as a major source of strength during one of the toughest periods of his career.
The Olympique Lyonnais attacker is currently with Ghana’s provisional 28-man squad in Cardiff as preparations continue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Nuamah returns to the national team setup for the first time in over a year after suffering an ACL injury that sidelined him for an extended period and raised concerns about his football future.
Following months of rehabilitation with French club Lyon, the talented winger successfully regained full fitness and earned a recall to the Black Stars ahead of the tournament in North America.
Speaking about his recovery journey, Nuamah admitted the process was far from easy but credited the prayers and encouragement of Ghanaians for helping him overcome the difficult moments.
“I just want to thank Ghanaians for your support and your prayers. I’ve been out for a while, and it’s all your prayers that have helped me get here today,” he said.
The 22-year-old acknowledged the physical and emotional challenges that accompanied his rehabilitation but said the backing he received from fans motivated him to keep pushing forward.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone for your support and your prayers. It hasn’t been easy for me getting an injury, but the encouragement from Ghanaians kept me going,” he added.
Nuamah has been training with the Black Stars at Dragon Park since joining camp on May 25 and is hoping to secure a place in Ghana’s final 26-man squad for the World Cup.
The Black Stars will face Wales in a friendly on June 2 before opening their World Cup campaign against Panama, followed by group-stage clashes against England and Croatia.
