Their journey to the World Cup, which is to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico in 2026, has been a mix of fortunes so far. In Group I of the qualifiers, Ghana has secured one win and suffered one loss in their first two matches.

The campaign commenced on a positive note with a 1-0 win over Madagascar in Kumasi. However, the team faced a setback in their next match, losing 1-0 to Comoros in Moroni. Yesterday evening, the Black Stars managed to regain their winning form, defeating Mali 2-1 in an away game. The goals were scored by Ernest Nuamah in the 58th minute and Jordan Ayew in the 90+4 minute at the Stade du 26 Mars.

Ghana are currently 2nd on the table with 6 points in three games, tied with Comoros who will be playing against Madagascar on Friday.
