Asamoah Gyan leaves politics to focus on Humanitarian works

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has announced that he is stepping back from political affiliations to focus on humanitarian efforts.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the 38 years old former player expressed that his involvement with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been unfair to the youth of Ghana, and he now plans to devote himself to empowering young people through his Asamoah Gyan Foundation.

Mr Gyan was serving as the chairman of the Youth and Sports Manifesto sub-committee for NPP presidential candidate Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign.

However, the football star clarified in his statement that he will no longer participate in partisan politics and want to focus on his humanitarian work for the youth and with all political parties all the best.
