Ghana international Inaki Williams rediscovered his scoring touch in La Liga, finding the net to help Athletic Club secure a 1-1 draw away at Rayo Vallecano.
The experienced forward struck just before the break to wipe out Jorge De Frutos’ 35th-minute opener and restore parity for the visitors.
Positioned at the edge of the area, Williams reacted sharply to a delivery from Alex Berenguer, connecting sweetly on the volley to register his first league goal since October.
It has been a challenging domestic campaign in front of goal for the 31-year-old, with the effort against Rayo marking only his second La Liga strike of the season. Nevertheless, the timely finish could provide a confidence boost as the campaign enters its decisive stretch.
Williams, who pledged his international future to Ghana in 2022 after previously representing Spain at youth level, remains an important figure for the Black Stars. He featured at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and is widely expected to be included in Otto Addo’s squad for next month’s friendly matches against Germany and Austria.
Having played a key role during Ghana’s qualification run, the Athletic Club talisman will be eager to build momentum and strengthen his case for another appearance on football’s biggest stage when the next World Cup comes around.
