Ghanaian Defender Kasim Nuhu Adams Joins Finnish Side KuPS on Two-Year Deal

Ghanaian centre-back Kasim Nuhu Adams has secured a move to Finnish top-flight side Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) after agreeing to a two-year contract with the club.

The experienced defender joins the Veikkausliiga outfit as a free agent and is expected to bring valuable experience to the team’s defensive unit following a career that has seen him feature in several of Europe’s competitive leagues.

Adams, who is now 30, has built a strong reputation during spells in Switzerland, Germany and Spain. Throughout his career, he has competed at a high level and also gained exposure in European competitions such as the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The Ghana international first made headlines during his impressive stint with Swiss giants Young Boys, where his performances earned him a move to German Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim in 2018.

Since then, the towering defender has represented a number of European clubs, including Fortuna Düsseldorf, FC Basel, and Servette FC, gaining valuable experience across different leagues.

Standing at 190cm, Adams is widely known for his physical strength, dominance in aerial duels and his ability to marshal the defensive line.

After completing his move, the former Black Stars defender shared his excitement about joining KuPS and highlighted the warm reception he received from the club.

“The reception was really good. The team welcomed me nicely, and the coaching staff made sure everything was organised from the beginning,” Adams said.

“The first training sessions were very good for me and I enjoyed them a lot. Things are developing well and I’m really looking forward to working with the team.”

Although this marks his first experience playing in Finland, Adams admitted he was already aware of KuPS due to their consistent presence in European competitions.

“I had heard about Finland before, and I also knew about Kuopion Palloseura. The club regularly participates in European competitions, so I was already familiar with them,” he explained.

KuPS sporting director Sixten Boström believes the addition of the Ghanaian defender will strengthen the team significantly.

“Kasim is a defender who suits our style of play, especially when it comes to building from the back. He is capable of starting attacks with both short and long passes,” Boström said.

“He also adds physical strength and strong aerial ability in both penalty areas. With his experience, he will bring leadership and confidence to our defensive line.”

Adams will now look to quickly settle into his new environment as KuPS prepare for the upcoming Veikkausliiga season.
