Black Stars Target Noah Nartey Shortlisted for Ligue 1 Award

Midfielder Noah Nartey has been shortlisted for the Young Talent of the Month award in the Ligue 1 after an impressive start to life with Olympique Lyonnais.

The 20-year-old, who has Ghanaian roots, joined the French club from Brøndby IF during the January transfer window and has quickly made an impact in France’s top division.

Since arriving at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, the attacking midfielder has delivered several strong performances, earning recognition with his nomination for the monthly individual award.

Nartey will compete for the honour alongside Mahamadou Nagida of Stade Rennes and Kevin Danois of AJ Auxerre.

The promising midfielder has featured in six matches for Lyon this season, registering two goals and one assist during the 2025/26 campaign.

Despite interest from Ghana Football Association regarding a potential call-up ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nartey has indicated that his immediate focus remains with Denmark.

Speaking to Tipsbladet, the youngster acknowledged the contact from Ghana but reaffirmed his commitment to the country he has represented throughout his youth career.

“Of course there is something with Ghana, and there has also been contact. But what I am focused on is playing for Denmark and qualifying for a very important and great European Championship,” he said.

“It is Denmark that I have represented my entire life, and it is them that I will continue to represent.”
