Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has admitted he will only target a place in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad if he can make a real impact for the team.
The SC Freiburg midfielder, who is recovering from a serious ACL injury, emphasised the importance of being fully fit rather than simply making up the numbers.
“I don’t want to go to the World Cup just to be a part of it or just have it on my CV if I cannot really help the team,” he said.
Kyereh explained that while playing at the tournament remains a dream, he must first be honest about his physical condition as he continues rehabilitation.
“At the end of the day, I am not the one who decides. I can just do what I can and leave the rest to the decision-makers,” he added.
The 30-year-old has earned 18 caps for the Ghana national football team and featured at two major tournaments, but now faces a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of the next World Cup.
