Kyereh Opens Up on Admiration for André Ayew and Their Special Bond

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has revealed the strong influence Andre Ayew had on his career, describing the former Black Stars captain as his childhood idol.

The SC Freiburg midfielder shared how Ayew played a key role in supporting him during his early days with the Ghana national football team.

“From the day I joined the Black Stars to when I had the injury and couldn’t participate anymore, he was really taking good care of me. Of course, he was my childhood hero,” Kyereh said.

He added that his admiration dates back to his younger years, revealing he kept pictures of Ayew and other players in his room growing up.

Kyereh earned his first national team call-up in 2021 and featured at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, where he made an appearance during Ghana’s group-stage campaign.

The midfielder was also part of Ghana’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup but saw his progress halted by a long-term injury that kept him out for an extended period.

Now back in action, Kyereh has begun rebuilding his career, recently scoring for Freiburg’s U-23 side as he works toward full fitness and a return to top-level football.
