Prosper Narteh Ogum Explains Black Starlets Squad Selection for U-17 AFCON

Prosper Narteh Ogum says merit, discipline and tactical understanding were the key factors behind his squad selection for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Ghana national under-17 football team coach recently named a 21-man squad for the continental tournament as Ghana prepare to compete against Africa’s best youth sides.

Speaking to the Ghana Football Association website, the former Asante Kotoko SC trainer explained that players earned their places through strong performances during the team’s preparations.

“We have carefully selected this squad based on form, discipline, and tactical understanding,” Ogum said. “These boys have shown great commitment during our preparations, and I believe they are ready to compete at the highest level.”

The Black Starlets have already arrived in Rabat to continue final preparations ahead of the tournament, which kicks off on May 13.

Ghana face a difficult challenge in Group D, where they will come up against Algeria, Senegal and South Africa in the race for a place in the knockout stages.

Despite the tough draw, Ogum remains confident his side is ready to compete strongly and represent Ghana positively on the continental stage.
