“I’m A True Ghanaian” — US-Born Kyran Amankwa Explain

Young winger Kyran Amankwa says his connection to Ghana made his international decision straightforward despite being born in the United States.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Original FM, the 18-year-old explained why he has always strongly identified with Ghanaian culture.

The FK Pirmasens youngster, whose parents are from Kumasi, said that representing Ghana would mean far more than just football.

“I’m a proud Ghanaian. Although I was born in the States, my parents were born in Kumasi, and I feel so happy to represent my motherland,” he told Original FM.

“I’m a true Ghanaian.”

Amankwa also stressed that making his family proud remains one of the biggest driving forces behind his football ambitions.

The teenager noted that growing up in a Ghanaian household helped him maintain a close bond with the country despite living abroad.

He believes wearing Ghana’s colours at youth level would be a special achievement and hopes to eventually progress to the senior national team in the future.

The winger currently plays for FK Pirmasens in Germany.
