Kurt Okraku Backs Black Stars to Conquer Tough World Cup Group

Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has thrown his full support behind the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing confidence that the team can overcome every challenge in Group L.

The Black Stars have been drawn alongside Panama, England and Croatia in what many consider one of the tournament’s most competitive groups. However, Okraku believes Ghana possesses the quality, determination and mentality required to compete against any opponent.

Speaking ahead of Ghana’s opening fixture, the GFA President stressed that the team should approach the tournament with belief and ambition rather than fear.

According to Okraku, the Black Stars have earned their place at the World Cup through hard work and deserve to be regarded as serious contenders capable of causing problems for any nation.

His comments come as Ghana complete preparations for their opening clash against Panama in Toronto, a match widely viewed as crucial to the team’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stages.

The Black Stars are making their fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament and will be hoping to improve on recent group-stage exits in Brazil 2014 and Qatar 2022.

Okraku also praised the atmosphere within the camp, highlighting the unity between players, technical staff and officials as Ghana prepares for the challenge ahead.

A positive result against Panama would provide the Black Stars with valuable momentum before facing England and Croatia in their remaining Group L fixtures.
