The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the Black Meteors will begin camping on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, as preparations get underway for the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
In a statement released by the Association, the GFA confirmed that invited players from the Ghana Premier League and Division One League have been instructed to report to the Erata Hotel in East Legon at 4:00 PM, where head coach Desmond Ofei will commence training with the local contingent.
The Football Association also disclosed that arrangements will be made separately for the foreign-based members of the squad, who are expected to join camp at a later stage.
“This is just the local component of the team as camping arrangements will be made for foreign-based U23 players,” the GFA stated.
Although the U-23 AFCON qualifiers will begin during the September international window, Ghana will not be in action until October after receiving a bye in the opening round. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is yet to announce the qualifying pairings.
According to the GFA, the locally assembled squad is expected to form the foundation of the team as Desmond Ofei begins preparations for Ghana’s quest to qualify for the 2027 U-23 AFCON and ultimately secure a place at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
