David Oduro Set to Leave Barcelona as Aston Villa, Tondela Show Interest

Ghanaian defender David Oduro is reportedly set to leave Barcelona on a permanent transfer before the close of the transfer window, with Aston Villa and Portuguese side Tondela among the clubs interested in securing his services.

The 20-year-old full-back has attracted attention following his time with Barça Atlètic, with Aston Villa understood to be in advanced discussions over a possible move. If the transfer is completed, Villa could send Oduro on loan to French Ligue 2 side FC Annecy to provide him with regular senior football and further development.

Tondela have also emerged as contenders for the Ghanaian’s signature as they look to strengthen their squad. The Portuguese club has already completed the signing of fellow Ghanaian winger Henry Addo from Maccabi Tel Aviv, adding another Ghanaian connection to their squad.

Barcelona are expected to retain a significant sell-on percentage as part of Oduro’s departure, allowing the Spanish giants to benefit financially from his future development and any subsequent transfer.

With the transfer deadline approaching, Oduro faces an important decision over the next step of his career. A permanent move followed by a loan spell could offer him the opportunity to gain valuable first-team experience, while a move directly to Tondela could provide another pathway into senior football in Portugal.
