Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has highlighted the Association’s efforts to develop and strengthen Ghana football at all levels, while outlining plans to build on the progress made over the past year.
Speaking at the 32nd Ordinary Congress of the GFA, the Association’s president said the development of the game remains central to the FA’s mandate, covering areas ranging from grassroots football and national teams to refereeing, infrastructure, governance and the protection of competition integrity.
“From grassroots football to the professional leagues; from the successes and development of our national teams to the nurturing of young talent; from enhancing refereeing standards to expanding football infrastructure; and from strengthening governance to protecting the integrity of our competitions, the GFA has remained firmly committed to its mandate of developing, promoting, and safeguarding football for the benefit of every Ghanaian,” he said.
Okraku also described the next 12 months as an important period for the Association, stressing the need to build on the reforms and progress already achieved.
“The next twelve months present us with an important opportunity to build on this momentum. It is a time to deepen the reforms we have begun, consolidate the gains we have made, and accelerate our efforts to transform every facet of our game,” he added.
The GFA president further pointed to improvements in the matchday experience and broadcast visibility of domestic competitions. He said strengthened matchday protocols have contributed to improved safety and organisation while live television coverage has helped bring Ghana football closer to supporters.
“We have strengthened our matchday protocols to improve safety, organisation, and the overall experience for players, officials, supporters, and our commercial partners. Our successful coordination of live television broadcasts has significantly increased the visibility and appeal of our domestic competitions, bringing Ghana football closer to fans across the country and beyond,” Okraku stated.
He also praised the consistency with which the GFA has delivered its domestic football calendar, noting that the Association has successfully organised its competitions for seven consecutive seasons without major disruptions.
According to Okraku, that achievement has been made possible through the collective efforts of clubs, match officials, administrators, security agencies, sponsors, partners and other stakeholders across the football ecosystem.
“For the seventh consecutive season, the Football Association has successfully organised all our domestic football competitions — both regular-season and off-season — without any major disruptions,” he said.
He described the achievement as a reflection of the resilience of Ghana’s football ecosystem and acknowledged the contribution of the various stakeholders who continue to support the game.
The GFA president’s address comes as the Association seeks to consolidate ongoing reforms while improving the organisation, commercial appeal and overall development of football in Ghana.
