Ghana’s National U-15 Boys team made an impressive start to their FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival campaign with a commanding 4-1 victory over Uzbekistan in their Group W opener in Azerbaijan on Saturday.

Jerry Owusu and Abdul Aziz Issah were the stars of the encounter, scoring two goals apiece to help Ghana secure all three points and announce their arrival in the competition in style.

The young Ghanaians showed attacking quality and composure from the opening stages, putting their opponents under pressure with an energetic display.

Issah led the charge by finding the net twice to give Ghana a strong advantage, before Owusu added two more goals to put the result beyond Uzbekistan’s reach.

Uzbekistan managed to score a late consolation goal, but Ghana’s commanding performance ensured they began their campaign with a convincing win.

The victory gives Ghana an encouraging start in Group W, where they are competing against Uzbekistan, Myanmar, Guam, the Bahamas and Kazakhstan.

Ghana face Myanmar and Guam in their next group matches on Sunday before completing the group stage against the Bahamas and Kazakhstan on Monday.

The tournament forms part of FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme, which seeks to provide young footballers with opportunities to showcase their abilities on the international stage and support their development through competitive football.

Ghana will now look to build on their opening victory as they continue their quest for success in Azerbaijan.
