“We lack consistency” – Hamza Obeng admits Kotoko’s struggles ahead of Medeama clash

Asante Kotoko interim head coach Hamza Obeng has admitted that his side need to improve their consistency as they prepare to face Medeama SC in a crucial Ghana Premier League Matchweek 9 encounter.

The Porcupine Warriors welcome the defending champions to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, November 1, hoping to build on their recent victory over Young Apostles.

Kotoko have endured a mixed start to the 2026/27 campaign, recording three wins, three draws and two defeats in their opening eight matches.

Their recent results have further highlighted their struggles to maintain momentum. The Kumasi-based side drew 1-1 with FC Ashanti Gold ’04, lost 1-0 to Swedru All Blacks before recovering with a 2-1 victory over Young Apostles.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s encounter, Obeng acknowledged the team’s inconsistency but disclosed that the technical team are working to address the issue as they target maximum points against Medeama.

“It’s very true we don’t have consistency in our play and it’s something that we are working on; looking at our game plan, that is what we are sticking to inside this game and we have a plan we are using to take the three points,” he told the club’s media.

Kotoko currently sit eighth on the league table with 12 points, five behind Medeama, who lead the standings with 17 points.

The Porcupine Warriors will be determined to take advantage of their home support to overcome the league leaders and improve their position as the season progresses.
