The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has handed Hohoe United FC a lengthy suspension after the club withdrew from the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
In its official ruling released on Friday, the Committee stated that Hohoe United breached league regulations after informing the GFA of their decision to discontinue participation during the second round of the campaign and subsequently failing to honor their fixtures.
“The Committee found Hohoe United guilty of misconduct after the club formally notified the GFA of its decision to discontinue their participation during the second round of the competition.”
As a result, the club has been suspended from all GFA competitions until the 2029/30 football season.
The Disciplinary Committee also confirmed that all registered players of Hohoe United will be granted free agent status through the GFA Players Status Committee, allowing them to join new clubs.
“All registered players of Hohoe United FC shall be granted Free Agent status by the GFA’s Players’ Status Committee.”
In another major decision, the Committee ruled that Hohoe United will have to restart from Division Two under the Greater Accra Regional Football Association after serving their suspension.
The club has also been directed to refund every form of financial support and equipment received from the GFA during the 2025/26 season. According to the ruling, the suspension does not exempt the club from any outstanding financial obligations owed to the Association or its members.
Despite the punishment, Hohoe United still has the right to appeal the decision within three days after receiving official notification from the GFA.
