Ghana U-15 Boys defeat Korea Republic to reach Round of 16

Ghana’s National U-15 Boys team have booked their place in the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan after defeating Korea Republic 2-1 in their Round of 32 encounter on Wednesday.

Abdul Aziz Issah continued his impressive form in front of goal, finding the net once again as Ghana maintained their winning run in the competition. An own goal by the Korean defence also proved crucial as the young Ghanaians secured victory to advance to the next stage.

The result extends Ghana’s unbeaten run to six matches, following an outstanding group-stage campaign in which they won all five games to finish top of Group W.

Ghana were particularly impressive in the group phase, scoring 27 goals and conceding just three. They opened their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Uzbekistan before recording emphatic wins against Myanmar, Guam and the Bahamas, all by 7-1, 7-0 and 7-0 margins respectively. They then defeated Kazakhstan 2-1 to complete a perfect group-stage record.

Their latest triumph over Korea Republic takes their overall goal tally to 29, underlining the team’s attacking strength throughout the tournament.

Issah has been among Ghana’s standout performers, with Jerry Owusu, Angel Junior Adjei, Shamsudeen Sulemana and Emmanuel Afful also contributing to the team’s attacking output during the group stage.

The victory over Korea Republic marks another significant milestone for the young side as they continue their campaign in the FIFA Talent Development Scheme tournament, which provides young footballers with international exposure and opportunities to develop their skills.

Ghana will now turn their attention to the Round of 16, where they will aim to maintain their impressive form and take another step towards the latter stages of the competition.
