Ghana Football Association Communications Director Henry Asante Twum believes discussions surrounding Thomas Partey ahead of Ghana’s World Cup meeting with England are designed to distract the Black Stars from their objectives.
Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, Asante Twum suggested that speculation in sections of the English media regarding Partey’s reception before the Group L encounter could be an attempt to unsettle the Ghana camp.
“The English media are using this as mind games to destabilise the team, but we support our player and remain focused,” he said.
The comments come as Ghana intensify preparations for one of the most anticipated matches of their World Cup campaign against England on June 23.
Asante Twum stressed that the Black Stars remain fully focused on football matters and will not allow outside discussions to divert attention from their mission at the tournament.
Ghana will face Panama, England and Croatia in Group L as they seek to reach the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time since 2010.
