Ibrahim Tanko has urged Medeama SC to remain fully focused as the club edges closer to the Ghana Premier League title.
The former champions currently lead the league table heading into a decisive stage of the campaign, with only a few matches left to determine this season’s champions.
Ahead of Medeama’s Week 33 showdown against Heart of Lions, Tanko explained that discipline and regular communication with the players have played a major role in keeping the team on track during the title race.
The Medeama coach also warned against overconfidence despite his side enjoying home advantage for the crucial fixture.
“We have to have a lot of conversations with the players. We are still leading the table, but I don’t think we should feel comfortable because we are playing at home. We have to prepare well, like any other game,” he told Medi TV.
Tanko further stressed the importance of securing victory in Sunday’s encounter, believing three points would place Medeama in a very strong position before the final round of matches.
“We want to win this game so that our chances will be almost 90% before the last game. So definitely we are going to work hard for this game,” he added.
The crucial league meeting between Medeama and Heart of Lions is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, at the TnA Stadium, with kick-off set for 3:00 pm.
