Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has paid glowing tribute to Asamoah Gyan following the former striker’s unveiling as an ambassador for Ghana’s national teams and Colts football.
Speaking during the ceremony in Accra, the Ghana Football Association president praised Gyan’s long-standing service and achievements with the Black Stars.
“For nearly two decades, he carried the hopes, dreams, expectations and emotions of millions of Ghanaians on his shoulders,” Okraku said.
The GFA president also highlighted Gyan’s achievements as Ghana’s all-time leading scorer and Africa’s highest scorer in FIFA World Cup history.
“To this day, Asamoah Gyan remains Ghana’s all-time leading scorer and Africa’s highest scorer at the World Cup, a record that speaks not merely to greatness, but to consistency, longevity and unwavering commitment to country,” he added.
Okraku described the appointment as an important step in using experienced football icons to inspire and promote the growth of Ghana football.
