The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has officially announced the conclusion of the Government of Ghana’s ticket support scheme for the Black Stars’ group-stage matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a statement dated June 29, 2026, the Ministry said the initiative, which provided tickets to selected Ghanaian supporters in Canada, the United States and across the diaspora, has now come to an end following the completion of Ghana’s Group L campaign.
According to the Ministry, the tickets were not intended for commercial sale but formed part of a coordinated national support programme involving recognised supporter groups, sponsors, stakeholders and Ghanaian community organisations.
A total of 2,922 tickets were distributed across Ghana’s three group-stage matches:
* Ghana vs Panama: 948 tickets
* Ghana vs England: 1,000 tickets
* Ghana vs Croatia: 974 tickets
The Ministry explained that the distribution process was coordinated through Ghana’s diplomatic missions in Canada and the United States, working alongside recognised Ghanaian associations and supporter groups. Beneficiaries were selected from lists submitted by these organisations, with tickets issued electronically through FIFA’s official mobile ticketing system.
The statement acknowledged that demand for tickets far exceeded the number available and expressed appreciation to supporters who were unable to secure seats despite their desire to back the Black Stars.
The Ministry also confirmed that the government’s ticket allocation covered only the group-stage matches, adding that there are currently no government-supported ticket arrangements for Ghana’s knockout-stage fixtures.
Supporters wishing to attend the Black Stars’ Round of 32 clash and any subsequent matches have been advised to purchase tickets directly through FIFA’s official ticketing platform or authorised ticket agents.
The Ministry further disclosed that, in the interest of transparency and accountability, it will publish the list of individuals, groups and institutions that benefited from the ticket support scheme once the appropriate publication process has been completed.
The statement concluded by thanking Ghana’s diplomatic missions, recognised supporter groups and stakeholders for their role in coordinating the exercise and urged Ghanaians around the world to continue supporting the Black Stars with unity, discipline and national pride as the team progresses in the tournament.
