Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey says he has put behind him the disappointment of missing Ghana’s opening World Cup match against Panama and is now fully focused on helping the team in their upcoming clash against England.
The Former Arsenal star was unavailable for Ghana’s Group L opener after being denied a Canadian visa, preventing him from travelling with the squad to Toronto for the match.
Despite the setback, Ghana secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Panama thanks to a late winner from Caleb Yirenkyi, giving the Black Stars a perfect start to their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Speaking about the difficult few days, Partey admitted the situation was frustrating but insisted he has remained positive throughout.
“Things happen in football that you cannot control. But for me, now I feel okay and ready to play,” he said.
The experienced midfielder has since linked up with the squad and is expected to be available for Ghana’s crucial Group L showdown against England.
Partey’s return would provide a major boost for head coach Carlos Queiroz, who views the former Atlético Madrid star as one of the team’s most influential players.
Ghana and England both head into the match on the back of opening victories, with a win potentially securing qualification to the knockout stages.
