Tuchel Hails Declan Rice as One of the World’s Best Ahead of Ghana Clash

England manager Thomas Tuchel has lavished praise on Declan Rice ahead of the Three Lions World Cup showdown against Ghana, describing the Arsenal midfielder as one of the finest players in his position anywhere in the world.

Rice is set to earn his 75th England cap when the two nations meet in Boston on Tuesday, and Tuchel believes the midfielder’s rise has been built on more than just his ability on the pitch.

The German coach highlighted Rice’s humility, work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement as key reasons behind his success.

“The point where he is now is one of the very best midfielders in the world,” Tuchel said.

“You see a humble footballer, ready to be a team player, ready every day to give energy and quality to the group and just ready to learn every day.”

Rice played a key role in England’s opening 4-2 victory over Croatia and is expected to once again anchor the midfield against a Ghana side looking to build on their opening win over Panama.

With qualification to the knockout stage potentially at stake, Tuchel will be counting on Rice’s leadership and experience to help guide England through one of the toughest fixtures in Group L.
