Tunisia Sack Sabri Lamouchi After Heavy Sweden Defeat

Tunisia have reportedly parted ways with head coach Sabri Lamouchi following the national team’s disappointing 5-1 defeat to Sweden in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to reports from Jawhara FM and journalist Romain Molina, the Tunisian Football Federation decided to dismiss Lamouchi after a poor run of results that left the Carthage Eagles struggling in the tournament. The decision comes amid growing pressure on the coaching staff after Tunisia’s performances failed to meet expectations on the global stage.

Lamouchi’s tenure ended with concerning statistics. Under his leadership, Tunisia managed just one victory in five matches, drawing once and suffering three defeats. The North African side scored only one goal while conceding 11, highlighting both their attacking struggles and defensive vulnerabilities throughout the campaign.

In the wake of the managerial change, Mondher Kebaier is expected to take immediate charge of the team for the remainder of the World Cup. Kebaier previously managed Tunisia and will now be tasked with restoring confidence and guiding the Carthage Eagles through the rest of the competition.

The Tunisian Football Federation is yet to officially confirm the appointment, but reports indicate that Kebaier will assume responsibility immediately as Tunisia seek to salvage pride and improve their performances in the remaining fixtures of the tournament.
