‘Unity Will Be Key for Us at the World Cup’ — Lawrence Ati-Zigi

Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has identified unity and togetherness as Ghana’s greatest strength ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the team can achieve something special if everyone remains focused on a common goal.

The experienced shot-stopper believes the Black Stars possess the quality and determination required to compete against some of the world’s best teams but stressed that success will depend on how united the squad remains throughout the tournament.

Ati-Zigi highlighted the strong bond within the camp, describing team spirit as a key ingredient that could help Ghana navigate the challenges of the World Cup.

According to the goalkeeper, football is not only about individual talent but also about collective effort, with every player, coach and staff member playing an important role in the team’s ambitions.

The St. Gallen goalkeeper also called on Ghanaians both at home and abroad to throw their full support behind the Black Stars, noting that fan backing can provide extra motivation during difficult moments.

With the tournament fast approaching, Ati-Zigi remains optimistic about Ghana’s chances of making a positive impression on the global stage.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia and will be hoping to advance beyond the group stage for the first time since their historic quarter-final appearance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

As Ghana prepares for its fifth World Cup appearance, Ati-Zigi believes unity, belief and hard work could be the foundation for a memorable campaign in North America.
