Ghana Premier League side Karela United have had their FIFA-imposed transfer ban permanently lifted after settling an outstanding financial dispute with former player Sana Camara.
In a letter dated August 20, 2026, FIFA’s Head of Disciplinary, Americo Espallargas, confirmed that the disciplinary proceedings against the club had been closed after Camara acknowledged receiving the outstanding payment.
The dispute followed an earlier FIFA decision in favour of Camara, which resulted in Karela United being prohibited from registering new players until the debt was fully settled. With the financial obligation now cleared, FIFA has officially brought the case to an end.
“The present proceedings against the Respondent are hereby closed, and its ban on registering any new players has been permanently lifted,” FIFA stated.
FIFA has also instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to immediately remove the corresponding registration restriction imposed on Karela United at the national level.
The governing body, however, clarified that the decision relates only to the Sana Camara case and does not affect any other sanctions that may exist against the club.
The lifting of the ban comes as a major boost for Karela United ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, as the club can now proceed with player registrations and continue strengthening its squad without the restriction hanging over its recruitment plans.
