Ghana’s Black Queens have been drawn against Zambia in the third round of the qualifiers for the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The Copper Queens secured their place in the next round after eliminating Uganda 5-3 on aggregate, setting up a meeting with Ghana in February 2027.
Ghana advanced with an emphatic 10-0 aggregate victory over Mauritius, winning both legs of their second-round tie to keep their Olympic ambitions on track.
The upcoming contest presents another major challenge for the Black Queens, who will need to overcome Zambia to move closer to securing a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
The fixture also offers Ghana an opportunity to avenge their elimination by the Copper Queens in the final qualifying round for the 2024 Olympic Games. Zambia, meanwhile, are seeking to reach the Olympics for a third consecutive time.
With both teams targeting progression, the February 2027 tie will be crucial to Ghana’s hopes of returning to the women’s Olympic football tournament.
