Former FCSB midfielder Baba Alhassan has ruled out an immediate return to the Ghana Premier League, insisting his priority is securing another move to Europe after becoming a free agent.
The midfielder, who recently parted ways with Romanian champions FCSB, believes he still has the profile and experience to continue his career abroad despite speculation linking him with Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
Speaking to Ayew Philips on his future, Alhassan made it clear that a move to either of Ghana’s biggest clubs is not currently on his agenda.
“I’m currently a free agent. Right now, I’m not looking to play for either Asante Kotoko or Hearts of Oak because I believe I still have a strong enough profile to secure a move to a European club. I’m also not sure either club would come in for me because they may not be able to meet my demands.”
Despite setting his sights on Europe, the midfielder revealed he continues to keep a close eye on the Ghana Premier League and remains connected to the domestic game through several close friends.
“I still follow the Ghana Premier League closely, even from afar, because many of my friends still play in the league, including Salim and Saana. The league isn’t bad—you can see it’s making progress—but I believe there’s still more that can be done to improve it.”
Alhassan featured 26 times for FCSB last season, making 1,107 minutes of appearances and providing two assists before becoming a free agent.
The former Ghana youth international is now weighing up his options as he looks to secure a new club in Europe ahead of the 2026/27 season while continuing his international career with Uganda.
