Black Queens set for fierce Nigeria test in final WAFCON 2026 warm-up

Ghana’s Black Queens will step up their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a high-profile international friendly against rivals Nigeria.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the encounter will take place at the Stade El Arbi Zaouli, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 PM WAT.

The clash will serve as another important test for Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren as he continues to fine-tune his squad ahead of the start of the continental tournament.

Ghana recently began their pre-WAFCON preparations with a friendly against Ivory Coast in Casablanca, using the match to assess the team’s tactical progress and overall readiness.

Facing the nine-time African champions will provide an even sterner examination, with both sides expected to use the fixture to sharpen their competitive edge before the tournament begins.

The Black Queens are drawn in Group D alongside Cameroon, Cape Verde and Mali, while Nigeria will also be aiming to build momentum before beginning their quest for another continental title.
