GFA Sanctions 2026 Democracy Cup Clash Between Hearts of Oak and Kotoko

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially sanctioned the 2026 Democracy Cup, confirming the highly anticipated meeting between Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

The third edition of the competition will be organised by the Parliament of Ghana on Friday, August 28, 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00pm at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Both clubs have agreed to participate in the fixture, which forms part of activities marking 32 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana. The encounter will once again bring together two of the country’s most historic and widely supported football clubs.

The GFA has welcomed Parliament’s initiative, congratulating the institution for its contribution to Ghana’s democratic development while also supporting the promotion and development of football.

The fixture will also provide both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko with another important test as they continue their preparations for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, which is scheduled to begin on September 5.

The GFA is expected to announce the match officials for the Democracy Cup in due course.
