Nations FC will not participate in the 2026 GHALCA Top 4 Tournament despite earning a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, GHALCA Administrative Manager Nana Oduro Nyarko has confirmed.
Speaking on Akoma FM, Oduro Nyarko explained that participation in the annual pre-season competition is reserved exclusively for clubs that finished in the top four of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
According to him, Nations FC’s qualification for continental football does not override the tournament’s eligibility criteria, which is based solely on league position at the end of the season.
“Participation will be limited to the clubs that finished first to fourth in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League. As a result, Nations FC, despite qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup, will not take part because they did not finish in the league’s top four,” Oduro Nyarko said.
The 2026 GHALCA Top 4 Tournament is expected to feature Medeama SC, Hearts of Oak, Bibiani Gold Stars and Dreams FC, with the competition serving as a key pre-season event ahead of the new Ghana Premier League campaign.
