Hearts of Oak have officially appointed Nebojsa Kapor as the club’s new head coach, handing the experienced Serbian tactician a two-year contract as the Phobians look to rebuild ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Ghanaian giants confirmed the appointment in an official statement on Saturday, describing it as the beginning of “a new era” following an extensive recruitment process aimed at restoring the club’s status in both domestic and continental football.
“The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC announces the appointment of Mr. Nebojsa Kapor as Head Coach, following an extensive recruitment process to restore the Club to domestic and continental prominence. The contract is for a 2-year period,” Hearts of Oak said.
Kapor arrives with considerable knowledge of Ghanaian football, having previously managed Tema Youth, Bechem United and Medeama SC. Hearts believe his tactical approach, emphasis on discipline, youth development and attacking football make him the ideal candidate to lead the club’s long-term project.
“Known for building competitive, attacking teams grounded in discipline and youth development, his approach aligns closely with the Board’s long-term vision for the Club,” the statement added.
The club also revealed that Kapor’s appointment is only the first of several technical changes expected before the new season as Hearts continue preparations for a campaign in which they will be aiming to challenge for major honours.
“The Board is confident Coach Kapor has the leadership and technical competence to lead Hearts of Oak into a new era of stability and success. We ask the Phobian family to rally behind him and the technical team as we work together to restore this great Club to its rightful place at the summit of Ghanaian and African football,” the club concluded.
