Hearts of Oak to Use University of Ghana Stadium as Temporary Home

Accra Hearts of Oak will temporarily use the University of Ghana Stadium as their home venue for the opening stages of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians have reached an agreement with the University of Ghana Stadium to host their Matchday 1 and Matchday 3 fixtures while the Accra Sports Stadium remains unavailable.

Hearts will open their league campaign against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, September 6, before travelling to Bibiani Gold Stars on Matchday 2. They will then return to Accra to host Bechem United the following week.

The arrangement has been necessitated by ongoing work on the pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of Ghana’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, leaving Hearts without access to their traditional home.

The Phobians also used both the University of Ghana Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium at different stages last season, recording only six wins and one draw in 17 home games. They will be hoping for improved home form under new head coach Nebojsa Kapor.

Hearts have appealed to their supporters to continue backing the team despite the temporary change of venue, while further details about their home arrangements beyond the opening fixtures are expected to be announced later.
