Hearts of Oak have announced their 22-man squad for Friday’s highly anticipated Democracy Cup clash against Asante Kotoko at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
The annual fixture, which serves as a tribute to the sitting President, has become one of the major events on Ghana’s football calendar, attracting significant attention as supporters look forward to the new football season.
Coach Kapor has selected three goalkeepers for the encounter: Benjamin Asare, Sheriff Shuab and Vincent Anane. The defensive options include Kelvin Osei Asibey, Emmanuel Amankwah, Abdul Aziz, Prince Amevor, Ransford Mensah, Ali Mohammed and Gordon Cudjo.
The Hearts squad also features seven midfielders, including Caleb Koranteng, Raphael Amponsah, Abdul Karim, Ebenezer Amoh, Kwasi Asmah, Mohamed Hussein and George Paaku, while five forwards have been named for the fixture.
Up front, Coach Kapor will have Martin Kakari, Henry Kwaku Boateng, Alex Benson, John Antwi and Abdul Makaiba Kadir available as Hearts look to claim victory over their biggest rivals.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:00pm on Friday at the Kumasi Sports Stadium. Beyond the rivalry and the opportunity to lift the Democracy Cup, the game will also provide both teams with an important test ahead of the new season.
The outcome will also determine which club could represent the Democracy Cup in Antelope Valley, California, in May 2027, as part of the proposed BABA Festival exhibition match.
