Usman Safianu explains why he chose Medeama over rival offers

New Medeama SC midfielder Usman Safianu has revealed that the opportunity to play in the CAF Champions League played a decisive role in his decision to join the Ghana Premier League champions.

The former Hohoe United captain admitted choosing his next club was one of the toughest decisions of his career, with several top-flight clubs expressing interest in signing him.

“This wasn’t an easy decision for me and my team. We carefully considered every option because there was genuine interest from some of the biggest clubs in Ghana. It eventually came down to two great institutions—Medeama Sporting Club and one of the two most accomplished clubs in Ghana,” he said.

Safianu explained that Medeama’s recent success, professionalism and long-term vision convinced him to make the move to Tarkwa.

“After several discussions, weighing every option and looking at our ambitions, Medeama stood out. The opportunity to play in the CAF Champions League, the winning culture the club has built, the professionalism around the team and the direction of the project made this the perfect choice for my career. I wanted to be part of something special.”

The midfielder also pledged to give everything for the club, stating that his ambition is to help Medeama defend their league title, compete strongly in Africa and continue delivering success for the club’s supporters.
